Oneida Faye Alsman, 77, of Washington, passed away Sunday surrounded by family. She was born March 2, 1938, in Oaktown, to Paris and Opal Pond. She attended high school in Vincennes and went to technical school at Good Samaritan. Oneida was a surgical tech for 35 years in Washington and Vincennes. On Nov. 2, 1963, she married Fred Alsman Sr. and they spent a beautiful 52 years together. Oneida was an involved member of Bethany Christian Church and loved to read.
Oneida is survived by her husband, Fred Sr.; her daughter, Kim Alsman; her son Fred (J.R) Alsman (Gail); and her adopted daughters, Glenda Hendrixson (Jack) and Velena Morrison; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Karen Small, Wanda Scarbrugh, Maryln Brady; and her brothers Jim Pond, Ed Pond, and Noel Pond.
She is preceded in death by her parents Paris and Opal; her son, Rick Killion; and brother Bill Hunley.
Friends can call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bethany Christian Church on Wednesday. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m., with Matt Merold, Tom Watson, and Don Smoot officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery. Online condolences can be made atwww.gillsince1872.com
