Tuesday night, the Lawrenceville-Vincennes Internation Airport tarmac was
crowded with planes. They were resting from marathon flights, as were their pilots – who are all women. They are teams of racers participating in the 39th Air Race Classic.
It’s the All Women’s Cross Country Air Race, and the pilots stopped in Lawrenceville for the night.
We caught up with three women pilots, all Kansas State University
students. They were tying down their plane, a Cessna 172 Skyhawk. We talked
with Elisha, Summer and their spokespilot, Karen Morrison also known as Curly. She told us what attracted her to the challenge of the experience..
