A Pike County man in jail for killing his mom and burning her house in 2011 will stay in jail for life.
In a Friday appeal ruling, the Indiana Supreme Court upheld the life without parole sentence for 39-year-old Andrew Satterfield. The Evansville Courier reports the court says the sentence will stand because a jury didn’t find him mentally ill.
All death penalty or life-without-parole sentences are eligible for direct appeal to the Indiana Supreme Court.
