Mark Henry Wichman


Mark Henry Wichman, 60, of Washington, passed away at 12:53 a.m. Friday after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Nov. 24, 1954, in Daviess County, he was the son of Bernard and Alma (Mangin) Wichman. He worked for the city of Washington. Mark was a 1972 graduate of Washington Catholic High School. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Daviess County Right to Life, Knights of Columbus and the Eagles. Mark also enjoyed gardening, grilling and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie (Kroft) Wichman, whom he married Oct. 10, 1981; two sons, Joshua Wichman of Washington and David (Rose) Wichman of Evansville; four daughters, Megan (Alex) Knies of Evansville, Rachel (Joe) Gehret of Indianapolis, Sarah Wichman and Mary Anne Wichman, both at home; three brothers, Steve (Nancy) Wichman of Bristow, Mike (Linda) Wichman and Chuck (Cindy) Wichman, both of Washington; one sister, Mary Jo (Vince) Sellers of Washington; three grandchildren, Carol Jane and Lewis Knies and Luke Wichman; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Alma Wichman; and a sister, Jane (Wichman) Divo.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, with Rev. Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with a public wake service at 3:30 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
