John T. Hart, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Monday in Indianapolis. He was born Feb. 27, 1932, in Daviess County, to William A. and Mary Ruth (Smith) Hart.
John was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion. He was a farmer his whole life and had 20 years of service at McCords in Washington. John enjoyed fishing and watching the Chicago Bears and Indiana University basketball.
Survivors include two brothers, Ray (Martha) Hart of Odon and Fred (Janet) Hart of Linton; two sisters, Margaret (Ralph) Dailey of Worthington and Marilyn Scott of Plainville; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents; Donald Hart; Beulah Nolting; Betty Birt; and Zelma Helderman.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday at Odon United Methodist Church, with Richard Smith officiating. John will be laid to rest in Bethany Cemetery in Montgomery following a military graveside service.
Family and friends may call at the church from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m. Friday.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of John. Envelopes will be available at the church.
