Project Lead the Way Director Joe Fuhrman at Washington Community Schools and also Jason Johnson have received the 2015 Engineering and Technology Excellence Award from the state Engineering and Technology Education Association.
News of the award was announced at Thursday night’s school board meeting.
Fuhrman and Johnson had been nominated by The Twin Rivers Vocational Co-Op for the work they do.
Also at the meeting, it was announced that Purdue Farms has donated $2000 for the elementary school volleyball programs. The money will help to fund all four coaches in the program at Washington’s elementary schools. Purdue also donated one hundred pounds of turkey to the school system for the upcoming thanksgiving meal. Schools have had a hard time affording turkey as costs have risen due to the bird flu incident earlier this year.
