A Washington native has been hired as the new executive director of the Knox County Area Plan Commission. The APC Board last night named Colt Michaels to the position.
Michaels graduated from Washington Catholic High School. He earned his bachelor’s from Indiana University where he double-majored in anthropology and geography. He says he’s always been interested in local government and city planning.
APC Board President Steve Volling says they interviewed 12-to-15 applicants for the job and Michaels stood out because of his experience in dealing with zoning issues.
Michaels is currently working with outgoing Executive Director Dixie Shouse who will be retiring at the end of this month. Shouse has worked in the office for 27-years including the last 19 as Executive Director.
