Richard “Dick” Wayne Small, 80, Elnora, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Daviess Community Hospital.
Richard was born May 5, 1936, in Washington, IN, the son of Guy and Elsa (Myer) Small. He married Betty Chambers on October 31, 1958. Dick graduated from Wheatland High School in 1954. He retired as a teacher at North Knox High School, teaching Business and driver’s education. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, boating, traveling, camping, and going to Florida in the winter with his wife. They have visited all 50 states and several countries. Dick was a member of several clubs including: Epson Boat Club, life member of the American Legion Post 245 Elnora, Crane, VFW, Sebring, Florida Moose Lodge, ISTA, and the French Club. He was also a member of the Elnora Methodist Church.
Along with his wife, Betty, Dick is survived by his children, Dolf W. (Robin) Small of Vincennes and Drak (Deanna) Small of Louisville, OH; grandchildren, Sherry Beamon, Rene Smith, and Heidi Small; great-grandchildren, Ian, Brenden, Isaac, and Cloe; and sister, Jane (Bob) Hill of Bicknell.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August 5, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
