The Daviess County Council and Commissioners met together Tuesday and heard a report on the proposed expansion of the Daviess County Airport.
The Airport Board has proposed adding a parallel taxi way and expanding the runway to 5001 feet to accommodate the larger corporate jets used by area businesses and to make the airport more commercially attractive.
Mark Shillington, a civil engineer with Woolpert Engineering, said the County Airport will receive partial funding for the project from a Congressional grant this year. Schillington said the plans also include the relocation of CR 350 N from the required runway protection zone.
In other Airport Board related business, the Commissioners accepted the resignation of Chuck Taylor from the Airport Board and appointed Eric Siebert to fill the empty seat.
