Richard Neal Oberst , age 71 of Washington, passed away at 11:46 PM on Wednesday at Hillside Manor Nursing Home.
He was born on November 30, 1944 in Bartholomew County to Charles Lowell and Dorothy “Jean” Oberst. He was a 1963 graduate of Washington High School, was a member of the NRA, and had worked at Hoover Ball Baring. He loved to fish and hunt, and was an avid air rifle collector.
He is survived by his wife Sandra J. (Carrico) Oberst whom he married on July 26, 1964; two sons, David Neal (Katherine) Oberst of Washington and James Kelly (Brenda) Oberst of Washington; four grandchildren, James Matthew Holman of Wheatland, Garrison Neal Oberst, Collin Oberst, and Addison Oberst all of Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, John Jacob Oberst.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary with Kelly Oberst officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 AM till 1 PM on Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
