Daviess Community Hospital has been named a pilot site for Athletic Training Reimbursement.
In 2011, the Indiana General Assembly passed legislation allowing for athletic trainers to receive reimbursement from third party payers for services that those payers typically reimburse.
DCH is one of five pilot sites for the state.
Until the bill was passed, insurance companies didn’t reimburse facilities for care given by a certified athletic trainer.
Under the program, DCH athletic trainers bill for their services under specific codes. If the claims are denied by insurance, a team works with the insurers to rectify the situation.
The pilot is a collaboration between the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and individual states. The program will run through October of next year.
