Loogootee schools were locked down about 11:40 yesterday after there was a report of a man with a gun.
The incident turned out to be a false alarm. Loogootee Police and the Martin County Sheriff’s Department responded.
Martin County Sheriff Travis Rousch called the report a prank and an investigation is ongoing to find who made the phone call.
Loogootee Police Chief Kelly Rayhill reported the call was computer generated in a practice known as “spoofing”. It came through a northern Indiana 911 service and then sent to Martin County.
