Edwin “Leroy” Padgett, 81, of Washington, passed away peacefully Tuesday.
He was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Daviess County, to Martin Luther and Rose Nell (Vandeventer) Padgett. Leroy married the love of his life, Mary L. Myers, on March 12, 1953.
Leroy was a member of the Shiloh Church of God. He worked as a farmer and trucker until his retirement in 2014. Leroy loved riding his motorcycle trike, and attending state fairs and festivals.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Myers; two sons, Marty (Marilyn) Padgett of Plainville and Terry (Shelly) Padgett of Washington; three daughters, Sherry (Mark) Willis of Petersburg, Marsha Myers of Washington, and Aleta (Bob) Baker of Elnora; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Edwin Padgett; one daughter, Winetta Webster; a sister, Thelma Padgett; and brothers, Rexall Padgett and Lester Padgett.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon, with Pastor Steve Sims officiating. Leroy will be laid to rest in the Plainville Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
