Entries are still being accepted for the 2016 Daviess County Christmas Parade, It’s this Saturday at 6. The theme is a “A Bicentennial Christmas” The parade is the last event of the year long city Bicentennial celebration that coincided with the state’s birthday. Trophies and cash awards will be given out to parade entries in several categories including Best Overall, Best Business and Best Non – Profit. There’s also a cash reward for the best lighted window display at a Main Street Business.
The parade starts at 6, line up is at 5 near Washington High at Northeast 7th and Bedford Road. Non registered participants can simply show up at the line up.
After the parade at about 6:45, Santa Claus will make an appearance at the East Side Park Community Building where there’ll be children’s crafts and refreshments. The parade entries will be judged at the park at 7 as the Courthouse Singers perform. At 7:30, Mayor Joe Wellman will preside over the lighting of a special red, white and blue Bicentennial Christmas Tree at the park.
