A man has been sentenced to 50 years for causing a crash that killed three people, including a pregnant woman.
The sentence Tuesday came after 49-year-old Brian Paquette pleaded guilty in September to being high on methamphetamine in February when he drove the wrong way on Interstate 69 and caused the crash. Paquette apologized to the victims’ families during the sentencing.
Authorities say Paquette’s SUV first struck a car with Autumn Kapperman, 21, who was 5 months pregnant, and Stephanie Molinet, 22. Jason Lowe, 44, was in another vehicle. All three died.
Paquette told an officer he smoked meth at a party and thought he was being chased by farmers in a field at the time of the crash near Petersburg.
