Verda Wagler, 88, of Cannelburg, passed away at 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2016 at Loogootee Nursing Center.
She was born February 26, 1928 in Daviess County, Indiana to the late Henry and Tillie (Wagler) Gingerich.
Verda was a member of Berea Mennonite Church. She enjoyed working on the farm, cross stitching and driving Amish to various places. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Verda always had a welcoming disposition. Her heart of gold fought to care for everyone in need.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Anson E. Wagler; son, Calvin Wagler; parents, Henry and Tillie (Wagler) Gingerich; siblings, Viola (George) Lengacher, Mary Marie (Isaac) Stoll, Edith Gingerich, Sylvia Mae (Paul) Miller and Amos Jerome Gingerich; brother-in-law, Ben McDermed.
Verda is survived by her children, David (Connie) Wagler of Cannelburg, Mark (Denise) Wagler of Loogootee, Daniel (Rene) Wagler of Shoals, Dorothy (Dan) Cox, Jan (Don) Swartz and Rhoda (David) Swartz, all of Cannelburg; daughter-in-law, Joie Wagler of Washington; 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Cletus (Fannie) Gingerich of Odon, Leah Lorine (Ben) Wagler of Sarasota, Florida, Henry Jr. (Martha) Gingerich of Woodburn, Indiana and Rosanne McDermed of Washington; sister-in-law, Esther Gingerich of Odon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2016 at Berea Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Berea Mennonite Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to I6Eight Mission. Verda’s grandson, Dustan, will be traveling to Mexico for the next year on a mission trip.
