Power outage in Washington Monday, accidents on 57 and 231. Sunday crashes result in arrests…..
-At 12:40-pm Monday, two vehicles collided at State Road 57 and Business 50. One driver was west and the other was north. Both thought they had the green light and proceeded into the intersection. No injuries were reported.
– There was a motor vehicle crash on State Road 57 in the southern part of town. The accident happened just before 10 when a vehicle ran off the road. Two poles had to be replaced. Accident reports were not complete. A driver signed a statement of medical release at the scene.
-There was an accident on 231 at the Crane turn off at 10:25-am Monday. Police logs report there was one injury. Air Evac was initially dispatched but due to some storms in the area the helicopter could not fly. The injured was transported by ambulance to Bloomington Hospital.
-At 12:25-am Sunday morning, accident reports say that 27 year old Chase Shaffer was driving south on I69 at the 80.5 mile marker and fell asleep. The vehicle went off the west side of the road, down an embankment and into a ditch. Shaffer was not injured. Further investigation revealed Shaffer of Indianapolis was under the influence while driving. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated with a controlled substance.
-Sunday a motorist reported driving south on 257 when a pickup approached at what they said was a high rate of speed. The motorist slowed down to let the truck pass but was rear ended. Arrested in the incident was 62-year-old Dennis Harmon of Vincennes charged with operating while intoxicated.
