Highway Department Supervisor praises state for it’s road funding plan…
The Daviess County Commissioners took care of several items at their regular meeting held on Tuesday.
They approved a request for employees of the Probation Department to use a county credit card for required travel.
They also approved a contract with AT&T to move lines in the Odon-Cannelburg Road construction area between County Roads 1100 N and 1200 N. County Engineer Jason Heile told the Commissioners that INDOT would reimburse the County 80% of the $46,705 cost.
In highway department business…the Commissioners agreed to maintain current policies for worker uniforms and dust control for the department. The only changes would be raising the worker uniform stipend from $100 to $120, and a change in the price of dust control.
County Highway Superintendant Phil Cornelius thanked Senator Eric Bassler and the other local legislators for their support of the new highway funding bill passed by General Assembly. The legislature provided $260 million for local roads in 2018 and $340 million in 2019. Cornelius also said the state would provide a 75/25 % match for Community Crossings grants.
In other business, approval was given to a request from West Boggs Park to use county equipment to mill down potholes on the Park’s roads. The only stipulation was that a county employee operate the machinery.
