We are about a month away from the 41st annual Vincennes Rendezvous. The event of course depicts life in the late 17th and early 18th centuries.
The Vincennes Sun Commercial says this year’s theme is built around Patrick Henry. That was the word from Rendezvous Marketing Director Mark Hill at yesterday’s Knox County Chamber of Commerce Bandwagon Lunch. Hill said they always want to teach history through the event showing connections of national figures to the rich history of Vincennes and Indiana every year.
What connection does Patrick Henry have with Vincennes? George Rogers Clark National Park Chief Ranger Joe Herron told the chamber that it was Henry who gave Clark his commission telling him to raise the militia and take out British forts. Clark eventually made to Vincennes capturing Fort Sackville.
This year’s Rendezvous is May 27th and 28th at the French Commons on Willow Street in Vincennes.
