Phyllis A. Helderman, 80, of Paris, Illinois passed away at 4:22 pm Monday, June 12, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.
She was born to Arvle and Helen (Utterbach) Young on May 8, 1937.
Phyllis had worked at Crestwood Elementary School in Paris for many years. Some of her favorite pastimes were sewing, cooking, crafts, puzzles, and playing cards.
Surviving are her children, Pamela Racop of Flat Rock, Joyce (Jim) McCarter of Wheatland, Janice (Herb) Nowaskie of Vincennes, Barbara (Randy) Green of Vincennes, and Terry (Rochelle) Helderman of Paris;
Her brothers and sisters, Wayne Young of Vincennes, Mid (Darrell) Walters of Decker, Jim (Julia) Young of Poland, IN, and Jane (Eldon) Fuller of Vincennes; along with 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and one more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Helderman, who preceded her on December 11, 2013; and two brothers, Leroy and Don Young.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday June 17, 2017 at Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home with Rev. Evelyn Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Friday at the funeral. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice.
