Edith Ziegler, 93, of Washington, IN went to her Heavenly Home on July 12, 2017 from Prairie Village Nursing Center. She was born on September 21, 1923 in Martin County, Rutherford Township to Orian and Ora Hembree. She attended Martin County Schools. On August 29, 1943, Edith married the love of her life, Walter Ziegler Jr. Edith worked and retired from R.C.A. She was a member of Alfordsville Christian Church. She enjoyed caring for her family and her flowers. She will forever be remembered as a sweet, spunky, quick-witted, and very loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
Edith is survived by her children: Wilma Seals (Don) of Loogootee, Walter James Ziegler (Patty) of Effingham, Gerald “Jerry” S. Ziegler (Sandy) of Washington; sisters Delphia Sendelwick of Jasper, Lucille Fuhrman of Loogootee; brother Norman Hembree of Carlisle; 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 25 great great grandchildren, and her precious fur grandbabies Lily and Snickers. She is preceded in death by her parents Orian and Ora Hembree; husband Walter Ziegler Jr.; son Douglas E. Ziegler; brothers Alvin Hembree, Earnest Hembree, Woodrow Hembree, Orian Hembree Jr.; and sisters Velma Wenning, Melva Simmons, Mary Hembree, Veda Chambers, Ora Hotz, Crystal Dyal, and Sylvia Keller.
The funeral service for Edith will take place on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 1pm at Gill Funeral Home, 308 E. Walnut Street, Washington, IN 47501 with Pastor Alfred Helms officiating. Friends may call prior to the service from 10am-1pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Truelove Cemetery in Martin County.
