In the latest unemployment figures released yesterday, Daviess County’s unemployment rate was listed as 2.1%.
That is up one-tenth of a percent over the June report, but is still much lower than Indiana’s average of 3.3% and the National average of 4.4%. The number of people with jobs in Daviess County’s grew from 15,503 in June to 15,929 in the July report, an addition of 426 jobs in one month. There were 335 people listed as unemployed. Lagrange, Dubois, and Adams Counties had the lowest unemployment rates in the state, holding steady at 2%. Daviess and Elkhart Counties were next with an also very low 2.1%. Martin County’s unemployment rate was 2.4%, Pike County had a 2.6% rate, Knox County reported a 2.7%, and Greene County had one of the highest unemployment rates in the state at 3.8%.
