Museum taking a break on accepting your history items

The Daviess County Museum is not taking any more donations of artifacts, until they can catch up on logging the ones they have.

In today’s Washington Times Herald, it’s reported that so many items have been donated to the museum’s collection over the last several months that volunteers are unable to keep up with the cataloging process.

Donations started increasing a year ago. That’s when the Museum re-opened after being closed for six months for renovations.  Since December last year, officials say 1600 items have been cataloged. Nearly 400 need to be put into the system currently.  The museum is looking for more volunteers to help.  For information call 812-257-0301.  Meanwhile, if you have something to donate, you’ll have to wait until February.  Officials stress it’s not because they don’t want what you have, they just need to catch up.
