Petersburg Celebrating 200 years

          The city of Petersburg celebrates its bicentennial with an event called the Buffalo Trace Festival this weekend.    There’s a parade at 6 Friday night through town with opening ceremonies slated for 6:30 complete with a balloon release. Entertainment Friday includes the Pike Central Jazz Band and Cochren and Company. There’s free carnival rides Friday and Saturday.  Other Saturday events include a pedal tractor pull, bed races on Main and music Saturday night from Rodney Watts and Jason Sturgeon.  Fireworks will cap things off Saturday night.  Main Street, which is State Road 57, from 61 south to German American Bank is closed for festival activity. 
          Meanwhile the town of Winslow is also holding a big festival. It’s their 12th annual Winslow Community Fall Festival starting at 8-am Saturday and lasting through sundown. Featured events there include a flea market, a kayak run, a talent show, music, food and more. According to their Facebook page, Batman and Spiderman will both be in attendance Saturday night.
