Zoning Ordinance changes reviewed by commissioners and plan commission
The county zoning ordinance has been described as a “work in progress”…and the work continues as it took a 90 minute session last night for the Daviess County Commissioners and Area Plan Commission to go over some tweaked language and points in the ordinance. County Commissioner Nathan Gabhart says the changes began as a result of a controversial construction and operation of a moto-cross race track in northern Daviess County….
Gabhart added that it’s always been the intention to have the zoning ordinance be as fair as possible to everyone….
Wording in the ordinance was changed so that more common issues don’t all need to come before the Board of Zoning Appeals. Also, the zoning officer would be given more authority to sign off on some matters.
There were changes concerning the sizes of lots and setbacks in residential areas. In addition, agri-business zones designations were more clarified.
The changes still need final approval at a public County Commissioners meeting and that will likely take place next week.
