The Daviess County Museum opened its latest exhibit honoring twelve “Men of Distinction” with a reception and celebration Thursday evening.
Those honored with displays included current Daviess County residents Harold Allison, Don Cosby, Glen Graber, Joe Kilps, Rex Myers, and Neil Smith, who were on hand to talk with members of the large crowd that was on hand for the opening.

Also on hand were family members of the late Senator Homer Capehart, Henry Gwaltney, Clifford Farris, Amos Wittmer, Abe Knepp, and the Graham Family. The Men of Distinction included national and state political leaders, businessmen, philanthropists, naturalists, and educators.
Jim Pearson, the grandson of Senator Capehart had this to say about the Men of Distincton.
Doug Dougherty, president of the Daviess County Historical Society praised the volunteers who put the exhibit together. Dougherty also took the opportunity to remind everyone that the Museum is a non-profit organization and relies on memberships and donations for a large part of its budget.
Dougherty said that single memberships are $25 and family memberships are $40. Special recognition is give to donors giving larger amounts. Dougherty said membership forms are on-line at the Historical Society’s website.
