No new court date has been set for accused murderer James Baldwin of Vincennes.
He called authorities last April saying he had killed his five year old. Authorities arrived to find the boy who had been strangled and smothered. Baldwin was arrested and was scheduled to go to trial this week but the trial was cancelled.
Defense Attorney Dale Webster has filed motions asking for a change of venue. The Vincennes Sun Commercial reports one motion also asks that life without parole not be sought if Baldwin is convicted Webster says that would be unjustified because Baldwin suffers from what Webster said was an intellectual disability. A hearing on the motions was slated for November 7th but that was cancelled due to a scheduling conflict.
For now Baldwin remains jailed in Knox County charged with murder, strangulation and domestic battery.
