Former School Treasurer Faces Charges

A former school treasurer in the region has been charged with Official Misconduct.  Indiana State Police say the felony offense allegedly occurred between 2015 and this year.
Former Southwest Sullivan School Corporation Amy Kinnett is accused of using the corporation’s credit card for personal use.  Police say the lengthy investigation revealed Kennett paid for bridal, hotel, grocery, telephone and clothing expenses totaling over $6,000.  Also, Kinnett allegedly removed $1000 cash from envelopes in the office and possessed several checks payable to the corporation that were not deposited within one business day of receipt in accordance with state law.
She surrendered this morning and was booked into the Sullivan County Jail.  Police added that during the investigation, Kinnett has made substantial restitution efforts to the school.
