(Santa oversees an officer shopping with a kid at the annual Cops and Kids Event)
Cops and Kids 2017 is in the books. Over 130 kids were escorted to Wal-Mart in Washington today and paired with local, county, state or DNR officers or maybe a fireman or EMT. The Head Start and Four Rivers Pre-School Students had a list of needed items like shoes or clothes and then were able to get a toy or two of choice.
Chuck Milton is with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department and President of the Washington Fraternal Order of Police, he says the program is great way for kids to know that law enforcement is here to help…
Thanks to donations from the community, about $125 dollars per child was spent. The day also featured appearances from the Grinch, McGruff the Crime Dog, Sparky the Fire Dog and of course Santa Clause.
