(AP) — Indiana lawmakers have reached halftime in this year’s legislative session, which has been marked more by plans deferred and legislation killed than major accomplishments.
That’s not entirely a surprise. Majority GOP leaders previously said that, for the first time in years, they did not have a major legislative goal to achieve.
Some measures that are advancing are intended to clean up unanticipated problems. That includes a stopgap school funding measure and clarifications to the state’s hemp law.
Meanwhile, Republicans have sought to steer clear of divisive issues as they head into November elections.
