Local authorities were advised from a local resident of an apparent scam. A resident on Northeast 3rd told police she had some work done computers by a company called Global Software. Within a week she said the computers weren’t working and the company said they would refund her $550. She says the company then called saying that had deposited $5550 in her account by mistake and told her to go to Wal-Mart and buy 7 gift cards in the amount of $500. She was then instructed to call a man named Peter Thornson and she was given a phone number. The woman called her bank who told her the over $5000 had not been deposited in her account. Knowing it was a scam she called authorities to report it.
