There’s nothing very new to report concerning talks between the city of Washington, and the Indiana Department of Transportation.
The city and state continue to try and work out a deal on getting Business 50 repaired and rebuilt.
Washington Mayor Joe Wellman says a recent meeting resulted in a counter offer from the state. He called it not terrible but it requires further discussion and number crunching.
As reported last week, Washington is getting nearly 7-million dollars in federal grant money to rebuild 50 from Southeast 3rd to State Street. But that money is not available for another three years and the city still has to pay design and other costs as well as a 1.4 million in matching funds.
