Vincennes City Council Meeting

A final decision on a new ordinance to regulate food trucks in Vincennes will have to wait at least a couple more weeks.
At their meeting on July 9th, the City Council passed the first reading of the ordinance, with the knowledge it would likely change before they could vote on it for a second and third time. Before a vote could take place at their meeting last night, the issue was tabled. Council President Scott Brown called for the table, saying that a few members of the council has issues with the language in some sections of the ordinance, and they could use more time to look it over.
Councilman Tim Salters pointed out a lack of flexibility with the way to ordinance was currently written, and said, if passed, the ordinance the council had before them could end up creating more problems than it would alleviate. With a pair of councilmen not present at the meeting, the Council decided to table the issue until all members could be present for further discussion and a possible vote.
In addition, the Vincennes Council has cleared the road for Riverview Lofts set to be built along 1st Street.
Council members voted to approve an ordinance that vacated a portion of a platted public way, namely Broadway Street that legally still extended from the edge of 1st Street to the Wabash River.
With the land now clear, the architectural firm of Myszak and Palmer are a step closer to constructing the three story loft structure, which will overlook the Wabash.
