James L. Carroll

James L. Carroll, 85, passed away at 9:46 pm on August 26, 2018 at Daviess Community Hospital. Jim was born on March 17, 1933 in Daviess County to Claude and Martha (Long) Carroll. He married Karla J. Fisher on October 3, 1955 and she preceded him in death on July 21, 1995. He then married Patty Hinkle on December 27, 1997.

Jim was a member of Plainville Christian Church and served his country in the U.S. Army in the 47th Division.  He retired in 1995 from Public Service working in maintenance at several substations. Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting and shooting guns. He also made muzzle loaders and was proud to have made one for each of his children and grandchildren. Jim also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs play.

Survivors include his wife, Patty Carroll of Plainville, his children, Jerry Carroll and his wife Crista, Tony Carroll and his wife Annie, Terry Carroll, Joe Carroll and his wife Cindy; step-children, Vicki Campbell and her husband Arthur, Kenneth Hinkle and his wife Beth; grandchildren, Andrew Carroll and his wife Annie, Craig Carroll and his wife Brittany, Leslie Swartzentruber and her husband Cory, Chelsea Wire and her husband Matt, Katie Carroll, Allison Carroll, Emily Carroll, step-grandchildren, Stephanie Humerickhouse and her husband Brian, Jason Campbell, Kenny Hinkle and his wife Ashlie, Heath Hinkle; five great-grandchildren; and nine step-grandchildren; brother, Donald Carroll and his wife Jeanette; sister-in-laws, Virginia Carroll, Henrietta Carroll and Judy York. Jim was preceded in death by his sisters, Iris Hoop and Juanita Ferguson; and brothers, Dixon, Frank, Robert and Russell Carroll and step-son, Greg Hinkle

Friends may visit with Jim’s family on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 4-8 pm at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street, Washington, IN. Jim’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral home with Ashley Shurtz and Dick Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Sugarland Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Pinehaven Christian Ranch, 350 Home Addition, St. Ignatius, MT 59865. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to assist the Carroll family with arrangements.
