(NETWORK INDIANA) The state is weighing whether you’ll get to read the inside story of how Carrier rolled back a planned factory shutdown in Indy.
Carrier reversed its decision three weeks after President Trump’s election, in exchange for a freshly negotiated incentive package. Days after Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence announced the deal, the Citizens Action Coalition filed an open-records request for emails between their staffs from the two weeks leading up to it. After waiting eight months, they sued.
Marion Superior Judge Heather Welch last week ruled in the watchdog group’s favor, and gave the state a month to produce the emails. Governor Holcomb says the state is still reviewing whether to appeal.
Holcomb was lieutenant governor and governor-elect during that period, but says he had no role in the Carrier discussions. He says it was handled entirely through Pence’s office.
