There was a fatal accident in Gibson County Wednesday morning.
It happened at 10:04-am local time on US 41 at County Road 100-West.
45-year-old Elena Williams of Haubstadt was in an ’05 Corolla heading south. State Police say she pulled into the path of a northwest bound 2005 Peterbuilt Tractor-Trailer on US 41.
Williams was taken to Gibson General Hospital and died from injuries in the crash. The driver of the semi, 65-year-old Thomas Lee Sowders of Owensboro, Kentucky was taken to Deaconess Gateway and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators say they are unable to determine which driver had a green traffic light at the intersection. The investigation is continuing.
