Cops and Kids in Washington is slated for December 20th. It’s the 28th annual event where local young students from Daviess and Martin Counties receive a police escort to the local Wal-Mart for a morning of shopping for clothes, shoes and toys. There were 170 kids served last year with around $125 spent per kid.
Billie Nicholas is with the local head start and she told us what the day means for the 3 to 5 year olds…
Firefighters, corrections officers, conservation officers and more also help out. The kids are from the Washington and Odon and Martin County Head Starts and 4 Rivers Pre-School. Again it’s December 20th and donations are being accepted at police and sheriff’s departments in Daviess and Martin Counties. You can make checks payable to FOP Cops and Kids.
