White, East Fork and Wabash still high

river-flood-warning-5

Flooding continues in the area as rain and the water equivalent from snow over the past week has amount to 3 to over 5 inches for the majority of central and southern Indiana.  Another quarter inch fell yesterday.  The most recent system brought enough precipitation to prolong flooding at many locations and bring back flooding at others.
At Newberry the river had begun to fall and was at just over 23 feet last night which is 10 feet above flood stage.  At Edwardsport the river is around 24.5 feet or 9.5 feet above flood stage and was falling.  At Petersburg the White was over 25 feet and will rise to nearly 26 by late tonight and crest.  Seven floods have reached this level in the past 29 years.
The Wabash at Vincennes was at 20 feet last night, four feet above flood stage.  It will rise to 20.3 tonight and crest.  At Mt. Carmel is reaching 27 feet and will rise almost 2 more feet before Saturday and crest.
The East Fork White at Shoals was at 28 feet late last night and will get up to 28.2 this afternoon and start to fall.
Again the river flood warnings in the area do continue until early next week.
