. (AP) — State highway officials are reviewing their plans to close two little-used highway rest stops in southern Indiana.
But after hearing from state lawmakers and members of the public upset by that announcement, INDOT has decided to keep the rest stops operating until a final action plan is determined.
INDOT spokesman Jason Tiller tells The (Jasper) Herald that nothing is off the table and the east- and westbound rest areas could still be shuttered.
Both rest stops are named for Nancy Hanks, who was Abraham Lincoln’s mother. Her grave is at the nearby Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial.
