James Danny Beery, 74, of Oaktown, Indiana, passed away May 14, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital, Evansville. He was born February 10, 1945 in Lebanon, Indiana, the son of Edwin and Mildred (Hornaday) Beery. He married Meredith “Merry” on April 3, 1966 and she passed away on January 24, 2010. He then married Julie Ann Blondin on June 23, 2012 and she survives.
Jim Beery was a tireless advocate for Knox County Citizens serving many years on the Knox County Council since 1991, Knox County Work Release Board, and the Knox County Solid Waste District Board. He served for nine years as the Treasurer of the Knox County Public Library Board. Jim was a beloved educator and coach in the North Knox School Corporation. He was also a member and beloved minister at the United Methodist Church in Merom, Indiana and member of Oaktown United Methodist Church. Jim was a published author and columnist. His faith kindness, graciousness and sense of humor enriched those fortunate enough to know and work with him.
Along with his wife, Jim is survived by his two daughters and their spouses, Marsha Ann (Scott) Jones of O’Fallon, MO, and Meredith (Ted) Miller of Jasper, IN, one son Daniel Beery and partner Sabrina Iffland of Philadelphia, PA. Step Children; Megan (Heath) Reburn of Newburgh, IN, Hannah (Brent) Carter of Evansville, IN, Adam (Jill) Miller of Evansville, IN, Noel (Patricia) Miller of Madrid Spain. Eighteen Hooperdoos, Wyatt Oxley, Jacob and Maura Jones, and Amelia Miller, James and Sophia Beery, Bryce, Emma and Riley Reburn, Hope, Nadia, Luke, and Lilianna Carter, Caleb, Eli and Isaac Miller, Eliana and Ezekiel Miller. One great- Hooperdoo, Aleister Reburn, a sister, Lou Harris of Bloomington, IN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Along with his parents and his first wife, James was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Lee Beery, Sr.
Funeral services will be on Saturday May 18, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. EST, at the North Knox High School, 10890 State Highway 159, Bicknell, Indiana 47512, with pastors Erich Blevins and David Niednagel. Burial will follow in Morris Chapel Cemetery visitation will be on Friday May 17, 2019 from 2:00P.M. until 8:00P.M. EST, at the High school.
