Washington’s City Council heard about a proposed apartment complex at Tuesday night’s meeting. Mayor Joe Wellman explains.
The developer, Wallick Communities, requested a portion of the area behind Casey’s on East National Highway be rezoned from single family residence to Commercial-2, to allow for the construction of the three building complex. The complex would consist of three residential buildings consisting of two and three bedroom apartments. While the City would have no financial stake in the complex, Wallick Communities asked the Council to consider a Payment In Lieu Of Taxes program for 16 years.
The Council will have a hearing on the rezoning request prior to their next meeting.
