Telehealth services are coming to North Daviess Schools.
The North Daviess School Board heard from School Superintendent Bob Bell and Elementary Principal Renee Judy who said a grant has been obtained from the Indiana Rural Health Association to pay for the program.
The Washington Times Herald reports the program allows students to be treated for routine illnesses, colds or eye issues through Daviess Community Hospital via technology. Starting out, the program will only be available for kids in Kindergarten to 6th Grade if parents and guardians fill out the proper paper work.
The newspaper quoted Judy saying if children get sick at school they can get a diagnosis, get prescribed medication if needed. She stressed it doesn’t mean sick kids should be sent to school.
North Daviess is the first school in Daviess County to offer telehealth.
