Joyce Ann Hedden, 84, passed away at 12:03 pm on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at The Villages at Oak Ridge. Joyce was born on June 8, 1935 in Daviess County the daughter of Hampton and Martha Aline (Boger) Lett. She married Raymond L. Hedden on July 10, 1951.
Joyce was a member of First Baptist Church in Petersburg and was a schoolteacher for Pike County Schools for many years. She loved literature and was in the Browning Literature Cub. Joyce also served on the Pike County Library Board.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond L. Hedden of Washington; sons, Randall Hedden of Phoenix, AZ, Wayne Hedden and his wife Amy of Winchester, IN; daughter, Karen DeCoursey and her husband Mike of Bicknell; brother, Jerry Lett and his wife Sue of Elizabethtown, KY; her grandchildren, Joshua Hedden, Kyle Hedden, Michael Sean DeCoursey, Clint DeCoursey, Clayton DeCoursey, Caleb Hedden, Haley Davis and twelve great grandchildren. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Ron, Ed, Steve and David Lett and her sister, Patty Hinkle.
Friends may visit with Joyce’s family from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street, Washington, IN. Joyce’s funeral service will begin at the conclusion of visitation starting at 2:00 pm with Pastor Mike DeCoursey officiating. Joyce will be laid to rest in New Veale Creek Cemetery.
