The Daviess County Highway Department says that County Road 1000-North between 475-East and 600-East was re-opened yesterday at 4pm. It had been closed since Monday for a culvert replacement.
County Highway Supervisor Phil Cornelius told the The Washington Times Herald that the box culvert was needed before a Community Crossings Project begins later this month. Contractors are due in to start the process of making the road a corridor from 57 to US 231. The state has awarded a million dollars with a $600,000 match from the county.
Milestone Construction is scheduled to start the project in about two weeks or so.
