Rebecca Ann “Becky” Newton, 76 of Hazelton, was born October 15, 1942 in Washington, Indiana to Howard and Estella (Standeford) Best. Becky had served as pianist and secretary for many years at First Christian Church in which she was a member. Becky was a graduate of Washington High School and served as Miss Washington in 1962. She enjoyed crafts, jewelry, yard sales and shopping for antiques. On Friday, August 9, 2019 she went to be with the Lord at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes.
Surviving are her children Erik Newton of Hazelton, Matt Newton and his wife Jeannie of Nashville, Tennessee; and four grandchildren, Colton Newton, Christian Newton, Claire Newton, and Elijah Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, David Newton, whom preceded her on March 10, 2009; infant daughter Amber Newton; and her brother, Jack Lindy.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 11:00 am until time of the memorial service at 1:00 pm at Goodwin – Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street, Washington IN., with Pastor Paul Newton officiating.
