Canine virus hits Central Indiana

(NETWORK INDIANA)  A deadly virus is making dogs sick in central Indiana. Indy Animal Care Services is warning dog owners about canine parvovirus, or parvo. The shelter said on Facebook that “dozens” of dogs infected with parvo have been dropped off at the shelter in the past week. Parvovirus is a highly contagious gastrointestinal virus usually found in puppies and young dogs. If left untreated, or treated too late, parvo can be fatal. Indy ACS says the best way to prevent parvo is to make sure your dog gets the parvo vaccine and parvo booster shot.
