Folks in southern Indiana may get a lifeline to Illinois back. President Trump on Monday signed a law that turns the old New Harmony Bridge over to the state of Indiana and the state of Illinois to see if state leaders want to repair and reopen it. The bridge has been closed since 2012. Federal officials have said for years that it’s not worth the cost to repair the nearly 90-year-old bridge over the Wabash River. Folks in Posey County will meet this week to begin talks about what to do next.
