Martin County authorities reported Thursday that they captured James “Mike” Hert on Wednesday.
Hert was being sought after he escaped Community Corrections last week. After investigating a home monitor tamper alarm, Martin County officers found Hert’s ankle bracelet in his yard in Shoals and Hert gone. A call was put out to the public to help find him.
Multiple tips were investigated and Wednesday one of the tips lead authorities to a wooded area north of Shoals. He was found to be in possession of what was believed to be meth.
He’s charged with Level 6 Felony Escape and meth charges.
