It’s Halloween, a celebration that evolved from an ancient Celtic holiday according to history.com.
The phrase Halloween is a contraction of All Hallows Eve the night before All Saints of All Hallow’s Day on November 1st. It’s a day commemorating all the saints of the church, both known and unknown, who have attained heaven.
Halloween has evolved into parties, costumes, jack-o-lanterns and trick or treating and is traditionally now a non-religious day in the Western culture.
Due to wet cold weather, most local Halloween festivities are taking place tomorrow.
