Daviess County Clerk Janice Williams says a total of 1,726 people took advantage of early voting over the past month. She says 680 of those votes were for the school referendum only. Everyone in the Washington Community School District which includes some precincts outside of the city of Washington can vote for or against the referendum concerning taxes on proposed new middle school building project. City residents are voting in Washington for Mayor, Clerk Treasurer and the City Council At-Large candidates.
Residents in Odon, Plainville and Elnora are also voting for several candidates running for town board positions.
The polls are open 6 to 6 today. WAMW will have coverage of returns as they come in this evening.
